STEAM SYSTEM AUDITS
All corrugator facilities utilize some form of a
steam system and along with the boiler it forms a critical component of the
plant. The corrugator cannot run without it and a steam system failure results
in a tremendous loss of production
dollars. A poorly designed or operating steam system will greatly affect the efficiency and production of the plant and
just like the Boiler the Steam System requires check-ups and regular maintenance. Components will wear out
and fail, equipment will be replaced and operating personnel changes occur.
Steam Science &
Technologies, LLC will perform our “Steam System Audit” (SSA) program at your facility during which the entire steam system
is reviewed from the incoming raw water going through a treatment system all the way through to the
return of condensate to the Boiler Room and the venting of non-condensables at
the various receivers. The SS&T Auditor will analyze the complete steam
system taking measurements of the variables associated with a corrugator, such
as roll temperatures, steam pressures at
critical locations, etc. The Auditor is experienced in the operation,
maintenance and unique requirements of a
corrugator that are necessary for proper production of quality containerboard
sheet.
The SSA program makes a detailed
assessment of your steam system’s operating status, sets goals for improving efficiency and safety through
procedure changes and equipment upgrades, and can renew training for all your personnel on all the
features and operations of your steam system components. In general, the physical audit consumes the first
day and additional days are added when necessary to conduct training sessions,
follow up on details and to monitor processes.
