BOILER ROOM SAFETY AUDITS AND DEVICE TESTING
Most all corrugator
facilities utilize boilers of the 200-700HP range and most are operated in an unsupervised
mode. Safe operation of these boilers, and their accompanying ancillary
equipment, is a function of proper daily care, maintenance and functioning of a
variety of safety devices. To assist plants in assuring that their boiler and
boiler room equipment is in good operating condition, respective of the safety
devices and matters that influence the safe operation, STEAM SCIENCE &
TECHNOLOGIES, LLC. offers a boiler room and safety device audit service.
Every Boiler system requires
safety checks and regular maintenance. Over time components will wear, equipment
will be replaced and personnel will change. The critical component of your
plant is the Boiler and the safety devices that are part of it are key to its
safe and continued operation. To help maintain the Boiler Room systems in
peak efficiency and safe operating condition, we believe that a thorough
“check up” should be
completed regularly. Our audits uncover faults averaging over 20% of the
total BRSA checks made within a Boiler
Room. One in seven plants have an issue serious enough to require
immediate repair and possible boiler shutdown.
THE AUDITS HAVE FOUND THAT 98%
OF CORRUGATED PLANTS HAVE AN ISSUE THAT IS IN VIOLATION OF
NBIC, FIRE MARSHALL OR INSURANCE UNDERWRITER REQUIREMENTS.
Our “Boiler Room Safety
Audit” (BRSA) program performed by a Steam Science & Technologies, LLC,
Auditor, who is fully experienced in the layout, operation and maintenance
of Boiler Rooms. The Boiler and
all associated Ancillary equipment are reviewed, including all safety
devices, piping arrangements, water treatment programs, etc. The end
result of the audit data collection effort is a comprehensive status
report, including checklists of tested safety devices and recommendations
for improvement based on
“best practices”. Boiler Room Safety Audits are an excellent means
of obtaining an outside or third party opinion of the safe operating practices
and conditions within your boiler room.
